Bears Draw Even with Bucs in SoCon Showdown

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Mercer men's soccer competed in its eighth overtime contest of the season and third in-a-row on Tuesday evening against ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn. The contest ended in a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of play. Mercer improved to 4-5-4 (2-1-2), while ETSU improved to 5-2-5 and 2-0-3 in conference action.

Despite being outshot 17-10, the Bears held a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal over the Bucs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening stanza despite ETSU outshooting Mercer, 7-3. The Bears had their best chance to score in the 29th minute as Will Bagrou's one-on-one with the keeper was turned away by the outstretched arms of Jon Sutherland.

The two teams combined for 13 shots in the second half but zero goals to set up an eighth overtime contest this season for Mercer, including third in-a-row. Bruno Andrade nearly placed the Bucs on top with 42 seconds left as his free kick from 25-yards out bounced off the left post to keep the contest scoreless.
