Men's Soccer to Spar with Spartans in SoCon Championship

MACON, Ga. – Mercer Men's Soccer will take on second-seeded UNCG tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Southern Conference Tournament Championship. The contest will be played at Stone Soccer Stadium on the campus of Furman in Greenville, S.C.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer trails UNCG in the all-times series, 8-4. Both battles this season have gone to double overtime with the Spartans edging the Bears each match. Most recently, UNCG defeated Mercer by the final score of 2-1 in Greensboro, N.C. on Oct. 21.

UNCG advanced to the championship match after defeating tournament-host Furman by the final score of 3-2. Matt Mattis scored two of the three goals for the Spartans. UNCG led the match 3-0 before yielding two unanswered goals to the Paladins. Mattis now leads the Spartans in goals with six, ranking second on the team in points with 12. Nelson Oceano paces the squad in points with 14 on four goals and six assists. Jon Milligan holds a 10-7-2 record in goal for UNCG, posting nine shutouts and 57 saves thus far.
