
Men’s Tennis Near Perfect in Singles Play at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Mercer men's tennis team had a phenomenal second day at the Wake Forest Invitational, taking five of their six singles matches.

In the A1 singles fifth place bracket, Nicolas Guillon kicked off the afternoon for the Bears downing Constandinos Christoforou in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. In the A2 singles fifth place bracket, Oliver Stuart topped N.C. State's Ivan Salvejic, 6-1, 7-6 (4).
In the B1 singles bracket, Ruben Vanoppen rallied to beat N.C. State's Morgan Lohan, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
Stathis Tsurandis bested Liberty's Eddie Gutierrez in the B2 singles fifth place bracket, 6-3, 7-6 (0). Fernando Guardia dropped his match, 6-4, 7-5, to Wofford's Lucas Cerebell.
In the doubles competition, Philp and Stuart fell to the top seeded Salvejlo and Salvejic from N.C. State, 6-2. Tsurandis and Guardi were defeated by Davidson's duo of Riazzi and Parlkh, 6-4. Mercer's pairing of Guillon and Vanoppen defeated UNC Asheville's Nolan and Sinai, 6-1.
