
Men's Soccer Garners Six SoCon Postseason Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer Men's Soccer saw six student-athletes capture postseason Southern Conference Awards on Tuesday afternoon, as announced by the league office.
Will Bagrou and Conner Antley highlighted the honors as All-SoCon First Team honorees. Trenton Whitely and Jeremy Booth added All-SoCon Second Team honors to the mix. Lastly, freshmen Kareve Richards and Leo Toledo Jr. captured a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
Bagrou leads the Bears and the conference in goals scored (12), points (27) and game-winning goals (4). Bagrou, a four-time All-SoCon First Team selection, has proven to be one of the more decorative players in Mercer and SoCon history. Bagrou currently has registered 37 career goals, 16 career assists and 90 career points. The former SoCon Freshman of the Year (2014) and Player of the Year (2016) ranks 13th nationally in total goals (12), 14th in game-winning strikes (4), 20th in total points (27), 27th in goals per game (0.63) and 34th in points per game (1.42). Bagrou was also twice-named SoCon Player of the Week this season on Sept. 12 and Oct. 17. Bagrou was named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate as well as garnering a spot on the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Award Watch List.
Antley joins Bagrou on the All-SoCon First Team for the second consecutive season. Antley currently has 11 points on the season (four goals and three assists). The redshirt-senior defender ranks second on the squad in points, while also holding the second slot in goals scored.
Whitely garnered his first All-SoCon Second Team selection this afternoon. The senior defender has recorded a career-high 10 points this season, scoring three goals and dishing out four assists in the process. Whitely has started in all 19 matches for the Bears, making a tremendous impact in the midfield and back line. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native ranks third on the squad in assists, while also ranking second in goals scored.
Booth added to his list of career accomplishments by joining Whitely on the All-SoCon Second Team. The Norcross, Ga., keeper has notched 60 saves this season, allowing 1.07 goals per game. Booth has faced 217 shots this season, recording a save percentage of .732. Booth currently holds a 7-8-4 overall record with three shutouts.
Richards captured a spot on the All-Freshman Team after competing in all 19 games thus far, garnering 18 starts. The Loganville, Ga., native has proven to be an essential piece of Mercer's defensive unit that allowed just 1.16 goals per game. Richards has accumulated three shots this season with two being on target.
Toledo Jr. rounds out the SoCon postseason honorees, joining Richards on the All-Freshman Team. Toledo Jr. took the league by storm this season, recording six assists to rank second in the conference. The Georgia native has accumulated eight points this season on one goal and six assists. Toledo Jr.'s six assists lead the Bears this season.

The Bears (7-8-4, 4-4-2) return to action on Friday at 3:30 p.m. to take on top-seeded ETSU (9-2-6, 6-0-4) in the SoCon Tournament semifinals. The contest will be played at Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C. on the campus of Furman.
