Mercer Drops 6-1 Decision To Louisiana Monroe

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Bears went to Atlanta on Thursday and faced Louisiana Monroe in a neutral site game, falling to the Warhawks, 6-1, at Piedmont Park.

ULM started the match with a pair of doubles wins to take a 1-0 lead overall. The Warhawks then won the first three singles matches to clinch the match, 4-0. The remaining three singles matches were played to completion as Haley Powell won at flight five, 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.

Powell is the only Bear who played three sets, but Katie Sidor and Marie Mottet both played tight matches. Sidor fell 6-3, 6-4 at flight two, while Mottet lost 6-3, 6-3 at flight three.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Haley Powell won her match at flight five to give Mercer its only point in the match. Powell defeated Karolina Snita 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.

Next up, Mercer will take on Florida A&M on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. in Tallahassee, Fla.
