Mercer Opens 2017 Season at Blazer Beach Duals

The Bears travel to Birmingham, Ala. for three matches
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mercer kicks off the 2017 season at the UAB Blazer Beach Duals with a trio of matches March 3-4. First serve is set for 2 p.m. ET Friday against Jacksonville State at UAB's West Campus Athletic Complex.
The Bears will take on New Orleans at 5 p.m. ET Friday before finishing off the opening weekend of play against ULM at 9 a.m. ET Saturday. There will be no live stats provided for all three of Mercer's matches.

NOTABLES
- Tori Penrod and Emily Krogman were named to the 2017 Preseason All-ASUN Team for the second consecutive year. Both were unanimous selections after earning 2016 regular season and tournament ASUN honors.
- Mercer faces Jacksonville State and ULM for the first time in program history. The Bears have battled New Orleans twice before, defeating the Privateers twice in 2015.
- Four seniors – Penrod, Demi-Shay Watchorn, Emma Peel and Gretja Otten – will anchor the Bears' roster this spring.
