All-Around Effort Leads Mercer To 19-4 Win Over Butler

MACON, Ga. – Seven Bears scored and 16 players set or tied season and/or career highs as Mercer dominated up and down the field to defeat Butler 19-4 on Sunday afternoon. Kate Leone led Mercer with season highs of five goals and seven points.

Three additional Bears notched hat tricks as Erica Coyne, Meghan Segreti and Lindsey Zeltwanger each found the back of the net three times. Zeltwanger added three assists to finish second with six points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears had another strong start as they surged to a 5-0 lead and Leone secured a hat trick in the first 11 minutes of the game. After a pair of goals for the Bulldogs, which sandwiched two Bear goals, Mercer closed out the first half with another 5-0 run to take a 12-2 lead and send the game to running clock before intermission.

Leone scored her fifth goal of the day to open the second half and spark another 6-0 scoring spurt for the Bears. With 10 minutes remaining, Mercer led 18-2. Butler scored a pair of goals in the final minutes and Mercer added another to move the score to 19-4.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Audrey Robertson had a banner day for the Bears. The sophomore set career highs with two goals, two points, five ground balls and five caused turnovers. Her five caused turnovers also set a program single-game record for Mercer.

"We were a new program not too long ago and Butler and Cecil (Pilson) are starting that at Butler. For us, it was about being able to go out and try to dominate all the different aspects of the game. That was our goal today and I think we were able to do that."

- Audrey Robertson set a program single-game record with five caused turnovers to go with her career highs of two goals, two assists and five ground balls.
- Kendall Garrett tied her career highs of two goals and two points and scooped up two ground balls.
- Nawal Alami contributed a goal, a career-high-tying three ground balls and a draw control.
- Catie Snee dished out her first career assist and set career highs with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Michaela Lucas also had her first career assist and added a career-high two caused turnovers and a ground ball to go with it.
- Gabby Goldberg recorded an assist and a draw control, tying career highs in both.
- Lily Morin set career highs with three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while also grabbed a draw control.
- In goal, Haleigh Wurzel made three saves in 51 minutes of play. Both Wurzel and Holmes allowed a pair of goals.
- Mercer led in shots, 38-10, ground balls, 38-17, and draw controls, 14-10.
- The Bears were 10-of-13 on clears, while Butler was just 6-of-20.
