JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Mercer women's tennis team is on a winning streak of its own, winning the last four matches all with a score of 6-1. On Thursday, the Bears downed Jacksonville State on the road.

Mercer once again won the doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead in the match. The Bears won at all three pairings to take the point. Jacksonville State played the match with only four players, forfeiting a doubles match and two singles matches.

Due to Jacksonville State's decreased numbers, Mercer started singles play with a 3-0 lead and Katie Sidor clinched the match with her 6-1, 6-1 win at flight three. Katia Stavroulaki followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at flight one.

Marie Mottet made it 6-0 in the Bears' favor with a 6-3, 7-5 win at flight four. Grace Korta fell at flight two, wrapping up play for the day.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Katie Sidor won in both doubles and singles, going 2-0 on the day. Sidor clinched the match for the Bears and is now on a four-match win streak in singles play.

"Jacksonville State was short today with injuries and that really hurt them. We did what we needed to do to win, but we could have been better. The team is building confidence at the right time of the season."

Mercer will continue its three-match road swing on Sunday, March 11 at Georgia State at 3 p.m.
