Bears Facing Owls In Georgia Lacrosse Battle

MACON, Ga. – Mercer will make the short trip to Kennesaw State on Sunday as Georgia's only two DI women's lacrosse teams will face off at 1 p.m. The Bears are looking to start ASUN play with a 3-0 mark. Â

Mercer, which has won three games by 10+ goals this season, is second in ASUN with 15.78 goals per game and leads the league with a 6.00 scoring margin. Additionally, the Bears are averaging 24.78 points per game, which leads the nation.

With 25 goals and 32 assists, Lindsey Zeltwanger is leading Mercer in points (57) and assists. Kate Leone has scored a team-leading 32 goals, and Leone and Zeltwanger are narrowly trailed by Meghan Segreti and Erica Coyne with 23 and 22 goals, respectively.

Zeltwanger leads the ASUN win points and assists, while Leone leads the league in goals. With her 57 points, Zeltwanger has earned her third spot on Mercer's single-season point leaderboard and has her just 5 points out of first place. She holds the top three spots on the list.

Kennesaw State opened ASUN play with a convincing win over Detroit Mercy but narrowly lost to Central Michigan to go 1-1 on opening weekend.

Connor Zophy leads the Owls with 36 points off 22 goals and 14 assists and Haley Swift follows closely with 34 points off 21 goals and 13 assists. Sydney Farwick has scored a team-leading 25 goals.

Farwick has also grabbed team-highs of 45 draw controls and 29 ground balls. Taylor McGhee is second for the Owls with 20 draw controls, followed by Swift with 19. Laura Jordan leads KSU with 11 caused turnovers, closely trailed by Izzy Palermo's 10.

Alex Bunn has spent a majority of time in goal for Kennesaw State, making 58 saves and allowing 85 goals for a .406 save percentage and 15.00 goals-against average.
