Bears Facing Owls In Georgia Lacrosse Battle

MACON, Ga. – Mercer will make the short trip to Kennesaw State on Sunday as Georgia's only two DI women's lacrosse teams will face off at 1 p.m. The Bears are looking to start ASUN play with a 3-0 mark.

OUTSTANDING OFFENSE
Mercer, which has won three games by 10+ goals this season, is second in ASUN with 15.78 goals per game and leads the league with a 6.00 scoring margin. Additionally, the Bears are averaging 24.78 points per game, which leads the nation.

Mercer's 37 points against Presbyterian ranks as the third most nationally in a single game this season. The Bears have scored 23 goals in two of their wins, which comes in at the fourth most in a single game this year.

ZELTWANGER AND LEONE LEADING THE WAY
With 25 goals and 32 assists, Lindsey Zeltwanger is leading Mercer in points (57) and assists. Kate Leone has scored a team-leading 32 goals, and Leone and Zeltwanger are narrowly trailed by Meghan Segreti and Erica Coyne with 23 and 22 goals, respectively.

Zeltwanger leads the ASUN win points and assists, while Leone leads the league in goals. With her 57 points, Zeltwanger has earned her third spot on Mercer's single-season point leaderboard and has her just 5 points out of first place. She holds the top three spots on the list.

SHARING IS CARING
The Bears are leading the league with 9.00 assists per game this season and Zeltwanger leads the nation in total assists and assists per game (3.56). In addition to Zeltwanger's league-leading 32 assists, Meghan Segreti is ranked seventh with 13 assists.

DOMINATING THE DRAW CIRCLE
The Bears have led in the draw circle in five of their nine games, leading to an average of 14.11 draw controls per game. Mercer currently ranks second in the league and 23rd nationally in draw controls per game.

Meghan Segreti is third in the conference with 4.67 draw controls per game. She also ranks third in program history on the single-season leaderboard with 42 draw controls and is just 14 draw controls out of first place. Segreti, who is also Mercer's career leader in draw controls, is 50 draw controls away from the 200th of her career.

GROUND BALLS APLENTY
Aided by a program-record 38 ground balls against Butler, Mercer leads the nation with 25.33 ground balls per game. The Bears' 38 ground balls also set a single-game high in the nation so far this season.

Haleigh Wurzel leads the Bears with 28 ground balls, followed closely by Catie Snee with 24.

SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
Kennesaw State opened ASUN play with a convincing win over Detroit Mercy but narrowly lost to Central Michigan to go 1-1 on opening weekend.

Connor Zophy leads the Owls with 36 points off 22 goals and 14 assists and Haley Swift follows closely with 34 points off 21 goals and 13 assists. Sydney Farwick has scored a team-leading 25 goals.

Farwick has also grabbed team-highs of 45 draw controls and 29 ground balls. Taylor McGhee is second for the Owls with 20 draw controls, followed by Swift with 19. Laura Jordan leads KSU with 11 caused turnovers, closely trailed by Izzy Palermo's 10.

Alex Bunn has spent a majority of time in goal for Kennesaw State, making 58 saves and allowing 85 goals for a .406 save percentage and 15.00 goals-against average. Lauren Hoffman has seen time in seven of the Owls' games, making 10 saves and allowing 26 goals for a .278 save percentage and a 12.65 GAA.
