Mercer Falls to Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mercer women's lacrosse team suffered its first ASUN loss of the season, falling 17-4 to Jacksonville on Thursday afternoon. The Dolphins took an early lead to take control of the momentum and the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jacksonville scored two quick goals to take a 2-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, but Eva Thorn answered with a goal for Mercer to make it 2-1. The Dolphins countered with a 7-0 run that lasted over 13 minutes and stretched their lead to 9-1 with just 3:23 left in the half. Lindsey Zeltwanger scored less than 20 second later and Jacksonville added another goal to enter halftime with a 10-2 lead.

The second half was quiet offensively for nearly 10 minutes before Jacksonville took an 11-2 lead. Thorn scored her second goal of the day to make it 11-3, but the Dolphins outscored the Bears 6-1 in the final 19 minutes of the game to win 17-4.
