
Bears Excel in Final Regular Season Meet

Mueller shines again; Rogers, Whiting place at top of 10,000-meter
CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Madison Mueller broke another school record and Victoria Rogers won the 10,000-meter event as Mercer performed well across multiple events Friday and Saturday at the Beynon Sport Catamount Classic.

Mercer earned 52 points to place sixth among 13 teams at the annual meet, hosted by Western Carolina. It was the final regular season meet for Mercer, which now shifts its focus to the Southern Conference Championships next month.

Mueller set her third school record of the year, running the 400-meter dash in 57.77 seconds. Mueller, a sophomore, now owns school records in the 100m, 200m and 400m events.

Rogers highlighted Mercer's strong performances in the distance events with a 39.05.64 first-place finish in the 10,000m run. Freshman Kimmie Whiting was not far behind Rogers, placing second in 39.18.65. In other distance events, Courtney Czerniak and Anna Grzeszczak both placed second in the 5000m and 3000m Steeplechase, respectively, with times of 19:19.63 and 11:44.69.

Ciarra Edwards shined in the field events for a second straight week since joining the team, setting another school record in the discus throw (34.02m). She finished second in the javelin throw with a distance of 35.19m.

ATHLETE OF THE MEET
Mueller continued her extraordinary season with yet another school record in the short-distance events. Her record-breaking time in the 400m (57.77) gives her school records in the 100m, 200m and 400m.

The Bears will rest up and continue to train for the Southern Conference Championships, held May 11-12 in Birmingham, Alabama.
