Madison Mueller, Ciarra Edwards pace Bears with program records
COLUMBUS, Ga. – Three school records were shattered and one was tied as Mercer completed an impressive Saturday at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Columbus State University.
Â
Sophomore Madison Mueller broke her own 200-meter dash school record of 25.34 seconds with a new time of 25.13. Mueller won the 200m event with the record-breaking time. Senior Ciarra Edwards made her career debut in the shotput, discus throw and javelin throw events, setting schools records in the shotput (10.98 meters) and discus (35.96 meters).
Â
Mercer's 4x100-meter relay team – Callie Hammerle, Mueller, Myranda Ham, Nicola Tirpak and Alicia Williams – tied the school record of 49.57 seconds while finishing second in the event. The same five Bears went on to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:02.44.
Â
Williams was the runner-up in the 400m as she set a new personal record for the third straight week with a 1:00.87 finish.
