Karina Kukkonen Selected to Finland National Team

Junior transfer will represent Finland in the European Ladies’ Team Championship
PALMELA, PORTUGAL – Incoming junior women's golf transfer Karina Kukkonen was selected to the Finland National Team for the upcoming 2017 European Ladies' Team Championship, hosted by the European Golf Association (EGA) at Montado Golf Resort on July 11-15.

A native of Finland, Kukkonen has been a member of the national team since 2009 and earned a silver medal in the 2014 European Team Championship. She is a seven-time Finnish Amateur Champion, having won five titles in stroke play with another two in match play. Kukkonen played collegiately at Jacksonville State the last two years. She posted an average score of 74.61 last year while earning 2016-17 All-Ohio Valley Conference honors.

The incoming Bear's older brother, Juhana, is currently a member of the Finnish Tour as well. Kukkonen and the Finns will tee off Tuesday in the opening round of action following Monday's final practice round and opening ceremony. Follow the action live by clicking here.
