WOMAN OF THE MATCH
Senior forward Valeria Bermeo led the team in shots on the night, taking three, all of which were on target.

In the 24th minute Rhette Cauilan ripped one towards goal for the Bears but was denied by Furman's goalkeeper.
The Paladins struck first when Treva Aycock snuck one past Ebert for the lead in the 31st minute. The Bears would enter the locker room trailing 1-0.
Mercer made some adjustments at halftime and came out very aggressive in the second stanza pushing for an equalizer.
In the 52nd minute Cauilan had another strike towards goal but was denied once more by the Paladin keeper.
The Bears could not seem to find the final touch in the final third as the Paladins' back line held strong for the 1-0 victory.
NOTABLES
• Goalkeeper Jordyn Ebert earned six saves on the night and drops to a 5-4-0 record while protecting the net.
• Valeria Bermeo led the team in shots with three on the evening.
• Rhette Cauilan had the best chance for the Bears in the first half but was denied by the Paladins' keeper.
• Alina McCue provided a solid spark off the bench for Mercer, playing 42 minutes and producing two shots.
RECORDS UPDATE
• Mercer: 7-5-0 (1-1-0)
• Furman: 7-2-1 (3-0-0)
QUOTABLES
"Credit Furman tonight. They came out the more aggressive team in the first half and we didn't respond well. They had a great goal. I thought we made some adjustments at halftime and came out with more energy and effort in the second half. We created two great chances; credit to them they made two great saves. I felt a draw would have been fair, but unfortunately, credit to Furman again on putting one away. Hopefully, we will bounce back on Sunday." --Head Coach Tony Economopolous
NEXT MATCH
• The Bears will continue Southern Conference play when they host the Wofford Terriers this Sunday, Oct. 1, beginning at 2 p.m.
