Bears Return to Betts Stadium for Final Home Stand of Regular Season

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer squad is set to wrap up the regular season with a weekend home stand at Betts Stadium. The Bears will first take on the ETSU Bucs this Friday (Oct. 19) beginning at 7 p.m. The Bears will then conclude their regular season with Senior Day facing Western Carolina on Sunday (Oct. 21) at 2 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Friday's matchup will be the 17^th time Mercer has faced ETSU, with the Bears holding a 10-4-2 advantage in the series. The Bucs took the match in Johnson City last season (10/8/17), winning 1-0 on a penalty kick in extra time. The Bears lead 4-2 in the all-time series against WCU, taking the match in Cullowhee, N.C., 3-2 last season (10/6/17).

NOTABLES

The Bears' 2-1 victory over Jacksonville State (9/9/18), marked Head Coach Tony Economopoulos' 70^th career win at Mercer. Economopoulos became the winningest coach in program history earlier this season when Mercer shutout Davidson (8/31/18), 3-0.
Mercer leads the Southern Conference in shots (324), points (110), goals (40) and corners (109).
Sophomore forward Abigial Zoeller is first in the in league in total shots (71), points (28), assists (8) and is third in goals (10).
Payton Schurr and Caroline Smith each sit second on the squad in points (10), with both netting four goals on the season and assisting on two.
Jordyn Ebert has seen 1302 minutes in goal recording 53 saves, a .791 save percentage and a .97 goals against average.
Mercer will honor six of their players prior to the match Sunday for Senior Day.

SCOUTING THE BUCS
ETSU enters Friday's matchup currently riding a two-match winning streak. Last time out (10/14/18), the Bucs defeated UNCG, 2-1. ETSU has won six of their last eight outings, dropping two matches on the road at Samford and Chattanooga. Eleonoro Goldoni leads the Bucs on the offensive side, recording a team-high 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Lea Ann Cutshall has played the majority of the season in between the posts for the Bucs, logging 1415 total minutes, racking up 92 saves and earning three shutouts. The Bucs are led by Adam Sayers who enters his 8^th year with the program.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Western Carolina enters the weekend with just one win in their last five outings, most recently defeating VMI, 1-0. The Catamounts have netted 14 goals on the season and have recorded five shutouts. Reily Nelson leads the team in points (8) with a trio of both goals and pair of assists on the season. Jacquelyn Gnassis and Natalia Icen have split time in between the posts this season. The Catamounts are led by Chad Miller who enters his ninth year with the program.
