Bears Travel to Face No. 3 Seed ETSU in SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals

MACON, Ga. – The sixth-seeded Mercer women's soccer squad will take their talents on the road to open play in the Southern Conference Championships, heading to Johnson City, Tenn., to take on the No. 3 seeded ETSU Bucs this Sunday, Oct. 28 beginning at 2 p.m. The winner advances to the semi-final and final rounds of the conference tournament next weekend, Nov. 2 and Nov. 4 at Macon, Ga.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Sunday's matchup will be the 18th time Mercer has faced ETSU, with the Bears holding an 11-4-2 advantage in the series. The Bears took the match earlier this season (10/19/18), winning 2-1 in extra time with Alina McCue scoring the golden goal.

• Mercer leads the Southern Conference in shots (365), goals (42) and corners (115).
• The Bears ranks second in the league in points (115), goals per game (2.21), assists (31), and fouls per contest (11.32).
• Sophomore forward Abigail Zoeller is first in the in league in total shots (77) and tied for first in assists (8). Zoeller stands second in the SoConin points (28) and third in goals (10).
• McCue and Sarah Adcock are tied for second on the club with 11 points. McCue's five goals ranks second best on the squad.
• Jordyn Ebert has seen 1503 minutes in goal recording 68 saves, a .810 save percentage and a .96 goals against average.
SCOUTING THEÂ BUCS
Mercer and ETSU have squared off several times in SoCon Tournament action. The last tournament matchbetween the two came in 2016 in the semi-final round, as ETSU pulled off a 3-1 win. In 2015, Mercer defeated the Bucs in the quarterfinal in Macon by a final of 3-2 … Eleonora Goldoni is one of the top offensive threats in the SoCon. She ranks fourth in the league in shots per game (3.69), points (19), and goals (8). Goldoni ranks second in the conference in goals per game (.62) … Lea Ann Cutshall ranks second in the SoCon in saves with 105 … Adam Sayers is in his eighth season as Head Coach of ETSU.
UP NEXT
The winner of Sunday's matchup will move on to the semifinals of the tournament, facing the winner of the No. 2 UNCG and No. 10 VMI matchup, next Friday, Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m. The semifinals and championship game of the tournament will be held at Betts Stadium.
