Bears Travel to Chapel Hill to Take on No. 10 UNC

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team returns to action, traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the No. 10 ranked UNC Tarheels this Wednesday, Feb. 27. The game will be held at Kenan Stadium with a start time of 4 p.m.

This will be the second meeting between the two squads. North Carolina won the first contest, 20-7, on Feb. 12, 2012, as the teams met on a neutral site in Atlanta, Ga.
Scouting the Tarheels
North Carolina enters the matchup holding a perfect 4-0 record on the season. The No. 10 ranked Tarheels, who won the 2016 national championship, were picked to finish third in this year's preseason ACC poll. UNC has a stellar record in non-conference matchups over the past 13 seasons, dating back to the 2006 season. The Tar Heels have won 104 of their last 129 games against non-conference teams. UNC also has a very impressive home record under Head CoachJoe Breschi. In Breschi's 10 years at the helm, the Tarheels are 63-16 in home contests. UNC's Tanner Cook is 19th in the nation in goals per game (4.0), with 12 on the year. The Tarheels explosive offense is ranked 7th in the nation in goals per game (14.25).

Honorary No. 24
Bradley Hodoval will don Mercer's No. 24 jersey Saturday in honor of John Michael Night. A different Bear will wear the No. 24 jersey each week of the 2018 season.

Following competition on Wednesday, the Bears will continue their road swing traveling to Newark, Del. to face Delaware on Tuesday, March 6. Mercer's matchup with Delaware will be the second of the Bears' five game stretch away from home.

- Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Hodoval is 35th in the nation in saves per game (9.00), with a total of 36 on the season.
- Sophomore Michael O'Brien is top 50 in the nation in ground balls per game (4.25) with a total of 17 on the season.
