Bears head to Palm City, Fla. For Martin Downs Collegiate
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's golf team returns to action with its first spring tournament at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate in Palm City, Fla. on Sunday.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the Osprey Creek Course (Par 72, 6,802 yards) at the Martin Downs Golf Club. Mercer will face off with a pair of Southern Conference foes (host UNCG, Western Carolina) among a 10-team field.
The Bears took a break from their spring preparations with a stop at the Golf Channel headquarters in Orlando on Friday, where they caught up with Mercer golf alumnus Tom Abbott, who works for the television network.

Coach Kayden's Take
"Our guys competed hard for the last three weeks of qualifying and are well prepared to perform at a high level over these few days in Palm City," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "We've had some great team and individual scores leading up to our first event of the spring.
"Martin Downs is a very quality test of golf with a great field included. We'll have the guys ready to play with confidence."
