Mercer Falls 5-2 to Stetson Saturday Afternoon

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears' men's tennis squad dropped a 5-2 decision to Stetson Saturday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

The afternoon kicked off with Mercer falling behind early, as the Hatters claimed the doubles competition. The Bears' No. 1 duo of Sam Philp and Olivier Stuart downed Colter Decoste and Colin MacNamara, 6-1. On court No. 2, Mercer's Carver Arant and Sachin Khurana fell 6-2 to Angus Bradshaw and Malik Bhatnagar. The Hatters' clinched the doubles point as they took court No. 3 with Loic Blanco and Antoine Sanchez defeating Mercer's Nico Guillon and Fernando Guardia, 6-1.

Mercer won four of the six first sets in singles play. The Bears' No. 1 slotted Philp, topped Bhatnagar, 6-4, 7-5. The Hatters' No. 2 Decoste rallied from a set down to beat Stuart, 6-7, 6-1, 6-2. Stetson also took court No. 3 with Bradshaw rallying to defeat Guillon, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. The Bears' No. 4 seeded Guardia was near perfect in a 6-1, 6-0, triumph over Sanchez. Stetson's No. 5 William Shkrob defeated Stathis Tsiranidis, 6-0, 6-2. The Hatters claimed a 5-2 victory as No. 6 MacNamara downed Arant, 6-4, 6-3.
