Bears Squander Lead, Fall to Louisville 21-14

MACON, Ga. – Kate Leone and Erica Coyne recorded three goals apiece as Mercer saw its three-game win streak snapped by a 21-14 loss to ACC foe Louisville at Five Star Stadium on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Caitlin Smith and Kelly Hagerty set the tone for the first 12 minutes of the game, scoring back-to-back goals. One goal by Louisville sparked a five-goal Mercer rally that included goals by Smith and Coyne. Despite leading, 7-1, Mercer would surrender a 14-goal run to the visiting Cardinals, who took a 12-7 advantage into halftime and extend it further into the second half.

Lily Morin's goal with 26:35 remaining in the second half stopped the Louisville run. The Bears would outscore Louisville over the final 22 minutes of play (6-4) thanks to goals by Lindsey Zeltwanger and Sami Van Slyke, but it was not enough to fight past the Cardinals.

Lindsey Zeltwanger notched a season-high two goals, two ground balls and nine draw controls. Zeltwanger also recorded a game-high five assists and was perfect on free position goals.

- Kate Leone and Erica Coyne both earned hat tricks with three goals apiece. Leone also added two assists, one groundball and one caused turnover. Coyne recorded one groundball and draw control.
- Audrey Robertson registered a season-high five draw controls and tied a game-high four groundballs and adding two caused turnovers. Meghan Segreti and Michaela Lucas also totaled four groundballs apiece.
- Iseabal Cryne faced a career-high 38 shots, recording a .300 save percentage including nine saves.
