Mercer sets five school records Saturday

ATLANTA, Ga. – Five program records fell Saturday as the Mercer women's track and field team took on 10 events at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at George C. Griffin Track.

Mercer has continued to rewrite its record book this spring with a youthful core of runners; the Bears have set 12 school records through just three meets. Saturday's performances led to new records in the long jump, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay, 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash.

A trio of freshmen – Lauryn Dancy, Sydney Campbell and Marion Meadows – all best the former school record in the 100-meter dash, with Dancy setting the new mark of 12.08 seconds. Campbell, Meadows and Dancy played rolls in other record-breaking finishes; Campbell went 5.46 meters in the long jump while all three played rolls in the 4x100-meter relay (47.04) and 4x400-meter relay (3:57.67) finishes.

Tessola Duncan was a member of both relay teams while Madison Mueller and Myranda Ham made up half of the 4x400 relay team. Cherrish Wright added Mercer's fifth record-breaker of day with a 15.13-second finish in the 100-meter hurdles.
