
Bears Set For Pair of Weekend Matches, Senior Day Saturday

MACON, Ga. –The Mercer men's tennis team is prepped for two home matches in the weekend ahead. First, the Bears will host the Furman Paladins on Saturday, April 14, in what will serve as Mercer's Senior Day. Mercer will then conclude their regular season with a match against The Citadel this Sunday, April 15. Both matches will be held at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

Scouting the Paladins
Furman enters Saturday's matchup holding an impressive 17-6 overall record and 5-1 mark in Southern Conference play. The Paladins are currently riding a two-match winning streak and have won eight of their last ten contests. In their last outing on April 11, the Paladins topped Wofford, 5-2. Cameron Green has played nearly every match at the No. 1 singles slot for Furman this season, posting a 13-7 record. Ivan Mitric leads the squad in singles wins, holding a 14-7 record. Furman's duo of Jake Munns and Green have won nine straight outings at the No. 1 doubles position. The Paladins are led by head coach Kelly Jones who is serving in his seventh season at Furman.
Scouting the Bulldogs
The Citadel enters the weekend holding a 9-22 overall record and searching for their first Southern Conference win of the season. The Citadel will have a double-header against ETSU and USC Sumter Saturday afternoon before heading to Macon for Sunday's match with Mercer. In their most recent outing on April 8, the Bulldogs were blanked, 7-0, by the UNCG Spartans. The Citadel is led by head coach Chuck Kriese who is serving in his fifth year at the helm of the Bulldogs.

The Bears will turn focus to the Southern Conference Tournament held in Chattanooga, Tenn. from April 20-22. The tournament bracket and seeding will be announced on a later date.
