Mercer Falls 12-6 at Bellarmine Saturday Afternoon

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team was unable to hold of the Knights' second half push and dropped a 12-6 decision to Bellarmine Saturday afternoon at Owlsey B. Frazier Stadium.
How It Happened
Mercer jumped to a two goal lead as Pascal Coombs and Will McCarthy both netted unassisted goals in the first ten minutes of play. Bellarmine's Ian Miller would respond with a pair of goals of his own to even the game at 2-2 before the first period ended.

Bellarmine jumped to their first lead of the game as Graham Macko and Brian Wall each netted one in the first five minutes of the second period. Mercer's Nate Patterson scored his fourth goal of the year with 9:54 remaining in the half to cut into the lead. The Knights would not let up on the pressure, scoring two more before giving the Bears a chance to respond. Down 6-3, the Bears scored three straight to tie the game up at 6-6 right before the half.

The second half was all Knights as Mercer was unable to find the back of the net and Bellarmine scored six unanswered goals.
With the loss, Mercer falls to 4-8, while Bellarmine improves to 3-8.
