Bears Head to High Point for Regular Season Finale

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team will conclude the regular season as they travel to High Point, N.C. to face off with the High Point Panthers this Saturday, April 28 at Vert Stadium.

Series History
The two squads enter Saturday's matchup deadlocked at 3-3 in the all-time series. Mercer took the most recent decision (4/1/18), 13-12, over the Panthers at Five Star Stadium last season.
Scouting the Panthers
High Point enters Saturday's matchup holding a 5-7 overall record with all five wins coming in Southern Conference play. The Panthers are riding high, currently on a four game winning streak most recently defeating Air Force, 7-6, last Saturday (4/21/18). High Point is second in the conference in goals per game (11.25) as well as second in the league in shot percentage (.325). The Panthers lead the SoCon in shots on goal per game with an average of 23.25 per contest. Asher Nolting leads the team on the offensive end with a team-high 57 points on 28 goals and a team best 29 assists. The Panthers are coached by Jon Torpey who has been at the helm of the program since 2010.

Bear Bones
- Senior midfielder Scott Baird has starred for the Bears on offense this season, leading the squad with 32 points on a team-high 21 goals and assisting on a team-high 11 as well. Baird also leads the team in total shots (97).
- Senior Pascal Coombs has been on fire as of late for Mercer, tallying a team-best 21 goals, recording five hat tricks on the season. Coombs leads the SoCon in shot percentage (.568) and also ranks third in the nation.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Hodoval is 24th in the nation in saves per game (10.08), with a total of 132 on the season.
- Freshman defender Matt Hughes is third in the nation in caused turnovers per game, forcing an average of 2.46 per game.
- The Bears are 16th in the country in caused turnovers per game and second in the SoCon.
- The trio of Hughes (32), O'Brien (15) and DuHueck (15) is fourth in the nation in caused turnovers among three teammates combined.
