MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team will continue Southern Conference play Saturday, April 7, as they host the VMI Keydets. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m at Five Star Stadium.

The Bears lead the all-time series, 5-2, winning five straight over the Keydets. Mercer took last year's matchup, 11-8, in Lexington, Va. (4/29/17).
Scouting the Keydets
VMI enters Saturday's matchup holding a 2-6 overall record and searching for their first Southern Conference win. In their most recent outing on March 31, the Keydets dismantled Hampton, 18-3 in Lexington. Three players from VMI netted four goals in the game: John Daniel, Wasley Sanders and Ryan Perouty. VMI averages 9.75 goals per game with a total of 78 scored on the year. The squad has tallied 298 shots on the season with 159 coming on goal for a .534 shot percentage. Daniel leads the team in total points, recording 18 goals and four assists. Perouty has scored a team-high 19 goals on the season.

- Seniors Matt Quinn and Pascal Coombs have also played a key role in the offense with 19 and 17 points on the season. Quinn is third on the squad in goals scored with 13 and also has assisted on six. Coombs has netted 14 goals on the year, including four hat tricks.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Hodoval is 22nd in the nation in saves per game (10.30), with a total of 103 on the season.
- Freshman defender Matt Hughes is third in the nation in caused turnovers per game, forcing an average of 3.10 per game.
- The Bears are eighth in the ninth in caused turnover per game as a squad and second in the SoCon.
- The trio of Hughes (31), DeHueck (10) and O'Brien (13) is second in the nation in caused turnovers among three teammates combined.
