Mercer men’s golf, women’s soccer earn APR Public Recognition Awards
INDIANAPOLIS – Two Mercer Athletics teams received Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards for 2016-17, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
Â
Men's golf and women's soccer were both honored for academic excellence among their peers, as they posted multiyear APRs in the top 10 percent of all Division I squads in their respective sports. It is the third straight year men's golf has earned the honor while women's soccer claimed the award for the second consecutive year.
Â
Mercer has had at least one team receive the APR Public Recognition Award in each of the last five years.
Â
From the NCAA: APR scores for all Division I teams will be released May 23, 2018. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. All teams must meet an academic threshold of 930 to qualify for the postseason and can face penalties for continued low academic performance.
Â
The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years.
