Mercer Plays Host To Mississippi Valley State Sunday

Bears close out weekend against the Devilettes at Betts Stadium
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer squad will look to complete an opening weekend sweep, as the Bears play host to Mississippi Valley State this Sunday, Aug. 19, at Betts Stadium. The match is set to kick off at 2 p.m.

Miss. Valley St. enters Sunday's matchup coming off a 5-2 loss to The Citadel Friday night. Karenth Zabala Terrazas and Laadi Issaka each provided a first half goal for the Devilettes in their season opener.
The Devilettes' roster features an abundance of international experience with seven of their players coming from overseas. Miss. Valley St. competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, finishing 6th in the league last season. Rohan Naraine is serving in his first season as head coach of MVSU.

- Following Friday's victory, Mercer now holds a 36-14-5 home record over the past six seasons.
- Six players, including three freshmen – Kyra Idris, Payton Schurr, and Kylie Buchanan - netted their first collegiate goals in the Bears' opener.
- Mercer recorded an impressive 30 shots against USC-Aiken, with 15 coming on target.
- Alina McCue leads the team in points after recording a brace (two goals) against USC-Aiken.
- The Bears had 23 players see action Friday night with 16 recording a shot.
- Friday night's goal-fest was the first time Mercer had scored seven goals since 2014. The Bears went on to claim the Southern Conference championship that season.
