Mercer Set to Host 2019 Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships

Southern Conference Championship to be held at John Drew Smith Tennis Center
MACON, Ga. – Mercer will host the 2019 Southern Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championship Tournament the league office announced.
The conference tournament, scheduled for April 18-20, will be held at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon. The 24 hard-court lighted complex has hosted numerous successful and respected tennis tournaments over the years, including professional tour events. The venue is recognized as one of the top 25 municipal tennis facilities in the nation by Tennis Magazine and the United States Tennis Association.
The Mercer men's and women's teams are coached by Eric Hayes, who begins his sixth season at the helm. Coach Hayes has led both programs to a consistent high level of success both on and off the courts. He was named the Southern Conference Men's Coach of the Year last season.
"We are extremely excited for this opportunity to host the Southern tournament," Coach Hayes stated. "We cannot thank those at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center enough for assisting in this process. We are excited to get a chance to show off this great facility to the rest of the conference."
