Bears Battle In-State Rival Georgia State

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Men's Soccer team will host in-state rival Georgia State tomorrow at 7 p.m. in just its second home match of the season. The Bears enter the match with a 0-1-2 record in their last three games, while the Panthers come in winners of five consecutive contests.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
The Bears are 18-36-4 all-time against the Panthers headed into this weekend's match. Mercer dropped a 2-0 decision at Georgia State to open the 2017 campaign a year ago, snapping a three-match win streak against the Panthers. Mercer is 5-4-2 against Georgia State under current head coach Brad Ruzzo.

NOTABLES

Mercer is off to a 4-1-2 start, matching the best seven-match winning percentage (.714) in the Ruzzo era. The Bears started 5-2 in 2016 to set the tone early in the season.
Kobe Perez is currently second among active career leaders in points scored (28) and tied for third in assists with nine.
Jake Mezei picked up his ninth career assist in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Evansville, tying Perez for the third-most active assists in the SoCon.
As a conference, the SoCon is 0-2-0 against Sun Belt schools heading into this weekend.

GETTING TO KNOW GEORGIA STATE
The Panthers enter today's match with a 5-2 overall mark. Georgia State dropped consecutive 1-0 decisions to Central Arkansas and Louisville to start the season. Since then, Georgia State has claimed five consecutive matches, outscoring opponents 12-3. The Panthers most recently defeated Presbyterian on Friday, Sept. 14 by the final score of 4-0 at the GSU Soccer Complex.
