Bears Welcome Governors and Gamecocks this Weekend

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer squad will continue their home stand, hosting Austin Peay and Jacksonville State at Betts Stadium this weekend. The Bears will first take on Austin Peay this Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. Mercer will conclude the weekend facing Jacksonville State on Sunday, Sept. 9.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Friday's matchup will be the first time Mercer has faced Austin Peay. The Bears own a 12-4-1 advantage over Jacksonville State. Last time the two squads met (9/15/13), Mercer prevailed 4-0.

NOTABLES

Mercer leads the Southern Conference and is third in the country in goals scored, netting 19 on the season. Mercer also leads the conference in total points (48) and is second in points per game (8).
Sophomore forward Abigial Zoeller is second in the in league in both goals (4) and in points (10).
Heading into Friday's matchup, Adcock is tied for second in the conference in assists (3).
Jordyn Ebert has played all 5777 minutes in goal and has 24 saves, a .800 save percentage and a .94 goals against average. Ebert is tied for second in the conference in shutouts (3).
Mercer has shown their depth this season with 16 Bears seeing action in all six outings.

SCOUTING THE GOVERNORS
Austin Peay enters Friday's matchup currently riding a two-match losing skid. Last time out (9/2/18), the Governors fell to Mississippi State, 4-0. Austin Peay has netted eight goals on the season for an average of 1.60 per outing. Claire Larose leads the team in points (6) with a trio of goals on the year, including one game-winner. Mary Parker Powell has started in between the posts in all of Austin Peay's matches, grabbing 12 saves while allowing six goals. The Governors are led by Naomi Kolarova who enters her first year with the program.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
Jacksonville State enters the weekend coming off a scoreless draw with Troy. The Gamecocks have netted nine goals on the season but have failed to find the back of the net in four straight outings. Claire Peterson leads the team in points (5) with a pair of goals and one assist. Megan Lerch has started in between the posts in all of Jacksonville State's matches, grabbing 10 saves while allowing three goals. The Gamecocks are led by Neil Macdonald who enters his sixth year with the program.

UP NEXT
Following this weekend's home stand, the Bears will hit the road for a four-match swing away from Betts Stadium, beginning by traveling to Alabama State next Friday, Sept. 14. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
