Â
KeKe Calloway once again led all scorers with 24 points, while Amanda Thompson added 20 points and eight rebounds. Linnea Rosendal chipped in for 10 points to join the double-figure scoring.
Â
STAT OF THE GAME
Mercer forced 20 turnovers in today's game, marking the fifth time that the Bears have forced 20 or more turnovers. Mercer converted those turnovers into 21 points, proving to be an integral part of the victory.
Â
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Although her double-double streak came to an end, Thompson finished the game with 20 points for her fourth 20-point outing of the season. The senior captain snatched eight rebounds, dished out four dimes and came away with six steals
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears wasted no time in jumping out in front, taking a 10-4 lead five minutes into the game thanks to four points from Thompson and four from Shannon Titus. With Mercer leading 14-8 with 3:21 left in the quarter, both squads fell into a bit of a scoring drought in the final minutes of the opening frame. Rosendal's transition three with 16 seconds left provided the Bears with a boost going into the second quarter with a 17-8 lead.
Â
The second quarter was all Mercer as the Bears scored the first six points and 13 of the first 16 points to stretch their lead to 30-11, forcing a UNCG timeout. Mercer outscored the Spartans 9-7 to close the quarter, taking the 21-point lead into the locker room. Thompson and Calloway combined for 20 points in the first half, with Thompson leading the charge at 13 points.
Â
The Bears held the home squad at arm's length in the third quarter, pushing their lead to a game-high 26 points with 5:42 left in the period. The Bears remained in control, as Rosendal's three before the buzzer capped off a 17-12 score for Mercer in the third quarter.
Â
Mercer held the 20-point lead until the 5:55 mark of the fourth quarter when UNCG's Te'ja Twitty connected on a layup to trim the Mercer lead to 18. The Spartans slowly chipped away at the Bears' lead, trimming the advantage down to 11 with 1:22 left in the game. However, Mercer never relinquished the double-digit advantage following Calloway's jumper to push the lead to 13.

COACH'S CORNER
Opening Statement:
"I was really pleased with our first three quarters. We held them to 30 points through three quarters and our defense was creating our offense. The fourth quarter we let up and they scored 28 points. We have to figure out a way to finish games. However, I was really pleased with the way we started the game."
Â
On the play of Thompson and Calloway:
"I thought KeKe shot the ball well and Amanda shot great in the first half. We are still searching for a consistent third and fourth scorer. Amanda and KeKe are scoring each night, but we need some more consistency. Shannon had a strong first half offensively. However, she did a great job guarding Nadine who finished 5-for-16 in the game."
Â
On the play from the bench:
"Greensboro is known for being a rebounding team. LaKaitlin is a great rebounder, we put her in the game, and she established herself as the rebounder. I thought Tia did a good job of helping us break the press against a good team. I also thought Ally did a pretty good job of guarding Nadine."
