Bears jump two spots on day two

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Payton Schanen's eagle on the par four fifth helped spark Mercer to a round of 298 and move up two spots to sixth after 36 holes at the Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by Missouri at the Club at Old Hawthorne Tuesday.

After crushing a 260-yard drive on the fifth hole, Schanen was set up with a 65-yard shot to the green that she holed-out for the eagle. Tiffany Kim also started hot with three birdies on the front nine for a one-under 35.

"I'm really proud of the way our girls responded today," head women's golf coach Michelle Drinkard said. "We have a great group that gets better day after day."

Mercer is paired with NIU and FIU for the final round and will tee things off at 8:00 (CT) Wednesday morning on holes 4A through 7B – Schanen, Hrindova, Lightfritz, Kim and Pyon will begin on 4A, 5, 6, 7A and 7B, respectively.
