
Scheck And Whiting Named WGCA All-American Scholars

MACON, Ga. - Mercer women's golf's Katie Scheck and Tylar Whiting were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, as a announced by the WGCA.
This is the first time Scheck has been named a WGCA All-American Scholar. It is the third WGCA All-American Scholar recognition for Whiting as she earned the honor twice while at Daytona State before joining the Bears ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must:
A graduate student from Ooltewah, Tennessee, Scheck finished the season with 30 rounds played and a stroke average of 72.73 which was tied for the second best round average in the conference. Scheck had a season low round of 68 in her second round at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic in Wolcott, Colorado.
Scheck won the Mercer Invitational at River Forest Golf Club in Forsyth on Nov. 3. She finished the 2025-26 season with four top 10 finishes and also finished in the top 20 in eight of her 10 tournaments played.
Whiting, a redshirt junior from South Daytona, Florida, finished her first season with the Bears with a round average of 75.42 over 33 rounds played. Her season best finish was tied for second at the Mercer Invitational. Whiting finished the season with two top 10 finishes at the SoCon Championship (7th place) and National Golf Invitational (T-7th place).

- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
