
Mercer Falls to Furman in Five

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Mercer Bears fell to the Furman Paladins in five sets Friday night in Greenville, S.C.

The Bears lost 2-3 (25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 25-16, 8-15).

MERCER VS FURMAN
Set One (25-21) | The first set saw a tie score nine times with seven coming in the first 16 points. The Bears had their largest lead at 21-17 behind a service ace, a kill, and a Furman error. Annie Karle would end the set on a kill from Emilee Wissmach.

Set Two (21-25) | The Bears had an early 6-2 lead with a combined block from Britany Major and Alexia Morey. Furman would go on an 8-2 run to put them up 10-7. The Paladins would take the match 25-21.

Set Three (22-25) | Mercer would lead the third set for the majority of the opening stages. It would go back and forth before Furman scored three straight points to take the lead. Nya Steele would score the Bears final point before Furman scored the final three to take the set

Set Four (25-16) | The Bears would start the fourth set on 12-6 run behind a few attack errors and a Brittany Major kill. The Bears would continue behind an Alexia Morey kill and a combined block from Amber Gibson and Jaida Howell. Mercer would take the set 25-16.

Set Five (8-15) | The Bears would fall behind in the last set 1-6. Malia Randolph recorded a kill but it wouldn't be enough. Furman would take the set 15-8.
