Men’s Soccer Falls in Overtime to Georgia State

Dylan Gaither scored the lone goal for the Bears
ATLANTA, Ga. – Mercer men's soccer dropped its third overtime game of the season on Saturday night. Georgia State scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute to defeat the Bears, 2-1, at GSU Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first half, the Bears scored the first goal in the contest. Coming off a set piece, Dylan Gaither scored in the 51st minute putting Mercer ahead 1-0. The game remained 1-0 in favor of the Bears until the 88th minute. Frank Rosenwald found Matthew Fearnley for a goal that tied the game at 1-1 and forced overtime.
Georgia State had the only shot attempts in overtime. In the 96th minute of the game, Jack Hilton-Jones had a shot that JR DeRose saved. Two minutes later, Fearnley assisted on Dylan Morris' winning goal, giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead over the Bears.
NOTABLES
The Bears return to action on Monday, Oct. 7 when they return to Betts Stadium to host North Florida in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
