Dylan Gaither scored the lone goal for the Bears

ATLANTA, Ga. – Mercer men's soccer dropped its third overtime game of the season on Saturday night. Georgia State scored the game-winning goal in the 98^th minute to defeat the Bears, 2-1, at GSU Soccer Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first half, the Bears scored the first goal in the contest. Coming off a set piece, Dylan Gaither scored in the 51^st minute putting Mercer ahead 1-0. The game remained 1-0 in favor of the Bears until the 88^th minute. Frank Rosenwald found Matthew Fearnley for a goal that tied the game at 1-1 and forced overtime.

Georgia State had the only shot attempts in overtime. In the 96^th minute of the game, Jack Hilton-Jones had a shot that JR DeRose saved. Two minutes later, Fearnley assisted on Dylan Morris' winning goal, giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead over the Bears.

NOTABLES

Dylan Gaither scored his second goal of the season in the loss. His goal was the only goal for the Bears.
Trevor Martineau was limited to one shot on goal in the contest against the Panthers.
Mercer was limited to eight shots in the game, two of the shots were on goal

UP NEXT
The Bears return to action on Monday, Oct. 7 when they return to Betts Stadium to host North Florida in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
