Men’s Soccer Returns to Betts Stadium to Host UNF

The Bears return home for its last non-conference match of the season

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team returns to Betts Stadium on Monday, Oct. 7 when they host North Florida in non-conference action. This is the last non-conference match of the year before the Bears step into SoCon play.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer leads the all-time series, 7-5-1, over North Florida. The last matchup between these two teams saw Mercer come away with a 2-1 victory over UNF on Aug. 24, 2018. Mercer has won the last two meetings.

Trevor Martineau ranks first in the SoCon in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, assists, and assists per game. He has 21 points in nine games. He has a SoCon high seven goals and seven assists this season.
Trevor Martineau is tied for third in the NCAA with 21 points this season. He is only three points behind Kimarni Smith of Clemson for the most points in the NCAA.
Mercer ranks 19^th in the NCAA in shots per game. They are averaging 15.44 shots per game, which leads the SoCon Conference. UIC leads the nation averaging 18.8 shots per game.
It took freshman Dylan Gaither six games to collect his first collegiate point. He has collected a point in four of the last five games for the Bears. Over those four games, Gaither has tallied six points, which is second-most on the Bears.

SCOUTING THE OSPREY
The Ospreys are 3-3-2 on the season and are coming off a 2-0 win over Jacksonville on Saturday night. In the match against the Dolphins, Robbie Soronellas scored both goals for UNF. On the season, UNF is 1-1-1 on the road. North Florida has scored seven goals this season, two each by Soronellas and Jake Hawker, which leads the team. Soronellas leads the team with two assists. The Ospreys have had two goalies play this year, and are led by Padraic Gilley who has appeared in 654 minutes. He has only allowed six goals and has a goal against average of 0.83.
