Mercer Opens SoCon Play with Air Force

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team opens its 2019 Southern Conference slate against Air Force at noon on Saturday, March 16 at Five Star Stadium.

The Bears are still looking for their first win of the season while hosting the Blue and Silver. The game will have live stats provided and will be streamed live via SoCon Digital Network.

SERIES HISTORY
The Bears are 1-8 all-time against Air Force but picked up their first win against the conference foe last season on the road in Colorado. Mercer defeated Air Force, 9-7, thanks to a five-goal fourth quarter.

ABOUT THE BEARS
The Bears have suffered multiple hard-fought defeats this season, including a recent pair of road losses at Delaware and Mount St. Mary's by a combined three goals. The Bears will look to Michael Quinn to continue leading the offense; Quinn owns 11 goals this season. Ashton Wood has 45 face-off wins in the circle and 20 ground balls. Josh Tarver defends the pipes with 72 saves this season and a .567 save percentage.

SCOUTING AIR FORCE
Air Force walks into its first conference game of the season at 4-2 overall, earning wins over Marist, Cleveland State, Canisius and Detroit Mercy. Trey Lervick leads the Blue and Silver with 15 goals for the season. Braden Host defends the pipes, registering a .500 save percentage including 45 total saves.

NEXT UP
Mercer will travel to Lexington, Va. to take on VMI for another conference battle. The two teams will face off on March 23 at 1 p.m. (ET).
