Mercer Drops Road Match at Coastal Carolina

Bears fall, 17-5, in nonconference contest
CONWAY, S.C. – The Mercer women's lacrosse team was defeated, 17-5, by Coastal Carolina in a nonconference contest at Brooks Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The loss was Mercer's second straight and dropped the Bears to 6-8 overall while Coastal Carolina improved to 9-4. Kendall Garrett led Mercer with two goals and two assists for a four-point performance.

Three separate runs by the Chanticleers, including a seven-goal stretch in the second half, helped them run away with the match. After Garrett opened the contest with an unassisted goal at the 27:46-minute mark, Coastal Carolina tallied five consecutive goals to jump ahead. Mercer would score twice more in the first half on goals by Catie Snee and Garrett, but entered the locker room trailing 8-3.

Katie Ryan and Kelly Hagerty added goals in the second half and were assisted by Garrett and Sami Van Slyke.

» Iseabal Cryne posted six saves in between the pipes. She led Mercer with four ground balls.
