Mercer Notches Nonconference Win Over Stetson

Bears down Hatters 20-13 on Thursday afternoon
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's lacrosse team (7-8) earned a 20-13 nonconference win on Thursday afternoon over Stetson at Five Star Stadium.
Despite the Hatters finding the back of the net twice within the first four minutes, the Bears led the match for the remainder. Hailey Rhatigan notched the first goal to put the Bears on the board, followed by Kelly Hagerty with her first goal of the game. After a 7-4 run led by Hagerty (three goals), Mercer ended the first half with a 9-6 advantage.Â
The second half began in similar fashion with back-to-back Stetson goals. Eva Thorn assisted Rhatigan to halt the Hatter run, marking a 10-8 Mercer lead. A yellow card on the Hatter goal keeper at 22 minutes allowed Katie Martin to earn her first goal of the season. Mercer did not slow down its scoring pace, notching a 9-5 run to win the game 20-13.
