Mercer Men Fall in SoCon Championship Semifinals

Sixth-seeded Bears defeated by No. 2 Furman, 4-0
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team was eliminated from the 2019 Southern Conference Championship with a 4-0 loss to second-seeded Furman in the semifinals on Saturday at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center.
The match originally started on Friday night before play was suspended due to rain. Another rain delay on Saturday morning pushed the match into the afternoon. Mercer ended its season at 11-15 overall and reached the SoCon Championship semifinal round for the third consecutive year.
A 6-3 win by Olivier Stuart and Nicolas Guillon on court one in doubles play proved to be the Bears' lone victory of the day. Furman took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three and put the match away with three victories in singles action.
