
Mercer Drops Tough Match at South Carolina

Gamecocks score game-winner in the 94th minute
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mercer dropped a tough, 0-1 loss to South Carolina in overtime Wednesday night in a non-conference match at Stone Stadium. The Bears (4-1) fell for the first time in the 2019 campaign and the Gamecocks (3-1) extended their streak of three straight overtime victories.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer nearly broke through several times during the match, as the Bears put five shots on goal – including a couple from Jason Nduese-udom. JR DeRose turned away five of Carolina's 10 shots on the night, the only hiccup coming in the 94th minute.
The Bears outshot the Gamecocks 10 to eight in regulation, with both squads putting five shots apiece on goal. However, Carolina was able to get two shots off in overtime – one being the game-winner from Tucker Monheimer.
