Gamecocks score game-winner in the 94th minute

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mercer dropped a tough, 0-1 loss to South Carolina in overtime Wednesday night in a non-conference match at Stone Stadium. The Bears (4-1) fell for the first time in the 2019 campaign and the Gamecocks (3-1) extended their streak of three straight overtime victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer nearly broke through several times during the match, as the Bears put five shots on goal – including a couple from Jason Nduese-udom. JR DeRose turned away five of Carolina's 10 shots on the night, the only hiccup coming in the 94^th minute.

The Bears outshot the Gamecocks 10 to eight in regulation, with both squads putting five shots apiece on goal. However, Carolina was able to get two shots off in overtime – one being the game-winner from Tucker Monheimer.

Notable

Mercer fell to 1-11 all-time against South Carolina – the lone win coming early in the 2016 season.
Despite the loss, JR DeRose has still only allowed four goals in five matches so far this season.
