Bears start SoCon play with a “dub”
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Mercer volleyball pulled off a thrilling, five-set victory in its Southern Conference opener at The Citadel Friday night – taking the match (18-25, 25-18, 25-14, 20-25, 16-14).
The Bears (8-6, 1-0 SoCon) were led by 19 kills from Roberta Todd – a new season-high for the junior and just one shy of her career-best. Todd was aided by a 40-assist night from reigning SoCon Setter of the Week Malia Randolph. Also filling the stat sheet for Mercer were Annie Karle with 19 digs and Alexia Morey, Brittany Major and Jaida Howell with five blocks apiece.
