Bears finish off perfect weekend at Soccer for a Cure Classic
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mercer men's soccer capped off a strong weekend at the Soccer for a Cure Classic Sunday by shutting out Memphis, 1-0, at BBVA Field.

The Bears (4-0) improved on their impressive start to the 2019 season with their second shutout victory this year. Mercer finished the Soccer for a Cure Classic as the only team to win both matches, as UAB, Memphis and Milwaukee each split their two matches at the tournament.

MAN OF THE MATCH
JR DeRose earned his second clean sheet of the season, facing 13 Memphis shots and turning away the only two that were on goal. DeRose now has seven career shutouts under his belt.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Spectators at BBVA Field hardly had time to find their seats before Mercer got on the board in the match, as Leo Toledo Jr. took a pass from Trevor Martineau and put it in the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Martineau now has three goals and three assists in four games this season.
