Mercer Prepped for Road Test at South Carolina

MACON, Ga. – Mercer men's soccer takes its strong start to the 2019 season on the road Wednesday night, as the Bears meet SEC-foe South Carolina in Columbia.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
The Bears enter tomorrow's tilt with a 1-10 all-time record against the Gamecocks. The last time the two teams met, the Gamecocks took the match, 2-1, in overtime on Aug. 28, 2017. Mercer and South Carolina split the season series in 2016 as the Bears claimed the first meeting by the final score of 3-2 in double overtime, before the Gamecocks defeated the Bears, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

PLUCKING THE GAMECOCKS
Carolina comes into the match off a pair of overtime victories over Gardner-Webb and USC Upstate last weekend. Transfer goalkeeper Buenyamin Yusufoglu comes into the week with the third most saves per match in the country and the seventh-most total saves. The Gamecocks started their season with a 1-4 loss at in-state rival No. 13 Clemson.
