Mercer Heads to North Carolina for a Pair of Road Games

Bears will face off against Gardner-Webb and Campbell
MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's lacrosse will head to North Carolina for a pair a contests against Gardner-Webb and Campbell. The Bears and Runnin' Bulldogs are set for Friday at 7 p.m. at Spangler Stadium. They will then head to Buies Creek, N.C. to take on the Campbell Camels on Sunday at 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE BEARS
Hailey Rhatigan' s three goals against High Point, puts her 33 goals away from the century mark in her career. She would become the youngest player in Mercer history to hit the milestone. Iseabal Cryne leads the Southern Conference in saves and is ranked 56th in the nation with six. Mercer's 11 goals is the most scored in a season opener since 2017 when they scored 23 against Presbyterian. Eva Thorn ranks second in the conference in assists while Lily Morin ranks fifth. Mercer leads the Southern Conference in groundballs per game with 20.00. Eva Thorn is 12 points away from hitting 100 in her career.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
Gardner-Webb enters the match with a 1-1 record on the 2020 season. They opened the season at Duke and lost 22-7. Their lone win comes from a 19-3 victory over Howard on Sunday. Jada Preston led the Runnin' Bulldogs with three goals in the game, while twelve others scored goals for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Junior Talen Francis leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with five goals already on the season, followed by sophomore Jada Preston with four. Gardner-Webb leads the Big South in free position percentage (0.667) and shot percentage (0.591). Jillian Krick enters her fifth year at the helm for the Runnin' Bulldogs. In her tenure, she has an overall record of 14-55. The Runnin' Bulldogs welcomed nine new faces to the squad.

Campbell enters the contest 0-2 on the season. Redshirt freshman Julianna Sanchez leads the team with six goals and seven points on the season. Sanchez scored five goals against Coastal Carolina. Laura Will is second on the team with five points (3G, 2A). Sam Carey leads the Camels with nine draw controls. Alex Salim has made 27 saves in goal for the Camels while allowing 26 goals. Dawn Easley enters her seventh season at the helm of the Fighting Camels. She has registered a 47-62 record while at Campbell, 105-93 overall in her 12 season career.
