Mercer Drops a Close One at Home

Mercer fell to California 11-10
MACON, GA. – Mercer women's lacrosse fell to the California Golden Bears 11-10 in Friday night's matchup.
Midfielder's Eva Thorn and Hailey Rhatigan would each record their 100th career point in the game.
Cal opened the game on a 5-0 run with goals from three different players. It was not until the 19th minute when Cailey Thornburg scored Mercer's first goal, with an assist from Hailey Rhatigan. Less than a minute later, Rhatigan scored another goal for the Bears. Eva Thorn and Thornburg would close out the first half scoring for Mercer with a goal each to put the Bears three goals back, 7-4.
Thornburg scored the Bears fifth goal 22 seconds in the second half. Thorn's second goal of the game at the 21:55 mark would also be her 100th career point. Mercer would go on a 3-0 run to come within one of the Golden Bears. Thornburg would score the first with an assist from Rhatigan-the assist would mark her 100th career point. Rhatigan would score two more goals in the game to bring her season total to 15. Thorn would score a goal late in the game to put the Bears down by one. Kileigh Casey would cause a Golden Bear turnover and take it down the field but could not put it away to tie the game. California would take the game 11-10.
