Dimitrijevic is the lone Mercer Bear to receive NABC accolades
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mercer senior guard Djordje Dimitrijevic added to his already impressive resume with a selection to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 21 Second Team.
"I am happy to see Djordje received recognition from the NABC," remarked head coach Greg Gary. "He displayed tremendous heart and work ethic on the court and was a true leader throughout the season."
Earlier this month, Dimitrijevic was named a First Team All-SoCon selection by the SoCon Sports Media Association and a Second Team pick by the league's head coaches. Academically, he was recently honored as a Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Second Team Academic All-American.
The Grdelica, Serbia native had a career-year in his final season in the Black and Orange, averaging 16.8 points per game and shooting a career-best 42.5 percent from the floor. He connected on 36.8 percent of his three-point attempts and set career-highs in total assists (111) and rebounds (123). Dimitrijevic set a career-high with 34 points in a January contest at Western Carolina.
He led the Bears to a 17-15 overall record (11-7 SoCon) and fourth place finish in the league's regular season standings.

About the National Association of Basketball Coaches
Located in Kansas City, MO, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Phog Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches. All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today's student-athletes. The four core values of being a Guardian of the Game are advocacy, leadership, service and education. Additional information about the NABC, its programs and membership, can be found at www.nabc.com.
