MACON, Ga. – It takes a special combination of academic excellence and athletic skill to be able to succeed as a student-athlete at Mercer University. Throughout the next few months, we will highlight these young men and women who have the privilege of calling themselves a Bear.
Â
Today, we highlight women's volleyball freshman Lexi Uhrhan.
Â
The Louisville, Ky., native saw action in 55 sets her first year at Mercer as a libero. Her first career kill came against Georgia Southern on Aug. 30. She notched a career-high three digs in the Bears 3-0 win at Chattanooga.
Â
Why did you choose Mercer?Â
I chose Mercer because I instantly saw how much of a family atmosphere this program has built and I wanted to be a part of that. I knew that I could succeed here in all aspects because of that.Â
Â
What is your favorite moment at Mercer?Â
My favorite moment so far was beating Western Carolina in the conference quarterfinals in 5 sets.Â
Â
What is your favorite sporting event you have been a part of at Mercer?Â
The basketball games especially when more and more people started to come. It was cool and exciting to see Hawkins filled up.
Â
Do you have any game day rituals?Â
Not really, just do whatever I can to stay focused and engaged.Â
Â
What are you working to get your degree in and what is your end goal?
I am getting my degree in Marketing and I hope to work for a big company as the head of marketing or doing social media for pro teams.Â
