
Fears Earns Spot on ASUN All-Decade Team

Lacey Fears was a three-time All-ASUN First Team Selection
ATLANTA – Former Mercer women's golfer Lacey Fears was named to the ASUN Conference All-Decade team on Friday afternoon, the league office announced.
To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections or multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Freshman/Scholar-Athlete of the Year/Championship Medalist, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference selections or three top-10 at ASUN Championship.
Fears was a three-time All-ASUN First Team selection for the Bears and added ASUN All-Academic Team honors as a senior. She was named ASUN Golfer of the Week six times throughout her career. The Bonaire, Ga., native finished in the top-2 on the team in average score all four years, including leading the squad as a junior and senior. Fears lowered her average score every year while at Mercer, capping her impressive four seasons in the Orange and Black with a 73.92 average over 25 rounds as a senior.
She produced a pair of top-5 finishes at the conference tournament in 2012 (2nd, 213) and 2014 (T-5th, 224), with her best finish at the ASUN Championships coming as a sophomore in 2012. That season, Fears earned runner-up honors after forcing a two-hole playoff against eventual winner Gabriella Wahl of ETSU. Her 213 54-hole score ranks third lowest in conference history. As a senior, she competed at the NCAA East Regional, hosted by Florida State, where she tied for 55th after shooting a 223.
