Tobias Jonsson cards lowest round in Georgia State Invitational

DULUTH, Ga. – Tobias Jonsson leads the Bears for the second tournament straight, placing second overall in the Georgia State Invitational.

Jonsson fired a final round of 65 (-7) which featured seven birdies and no bogies. In the final round, Jonsson was three under par at the turn before recording a hot streak that included four birdies in seven holes to shoot 32 on his back nine. Jonsson's third round marked the lowest of the tournament out of 86 individuals. Nationally, Jonsson is ranked 36 with a scoring average of 69.52.

The Bears recorded their team lowest round in the final day of the tournament with Jonsson leading. Martin Plukka carded a one under par while Jonathan Parker and Jay Spivey carded a one over. The Bears finished 10^th overall, moving up three spots from the day prior.

Wright State finished first with a team total of 846 (-18). Oakland's, Thomas Giroux placed first with a final of 204 (-12).

Mercer will return to action on October 24^th at the Grandover Collegiate hosted by UNCG. The golfers will play 36 holes on the 24^th followed by another 36 holes the 25^th.
